Jessie Privacy Policy

Effective 30 September 2026

Jessie is a trade name of American Product Co. LLC, a California limited liability company ("we"). We will tell you if this policy changes in a way that matters.

The short version

Jessie stores what you ask for, the stories it makes, how you listen, and — if you turn it on — a public profile. You decide whether a story goes into the shared library. Subscriptions are billed by Apple. We do not see or store your card. You can delete your account from Settings, and what we hold is really deleted. Deleting the account does not cancel an Apple subscription.

1. What we store

Your account. The email address you sign in with, and when you signed in. Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your personal one. That is the address we keep.

How you sign in. You can sign in with Apple, with a one-time code we email you, or with a password if your account has one. Most accounts have no password. We do not store the password ourselves; sign-in is handled by our account provider, named below.

What you asked for. Your own words during the conversation, and the brief Jessie writes from them. We keep your words as well as the brief so we can tell whether a story honored what you actually asked.

Your stories. The text, the recording, the cover picture, and how the story was made — which narrator, how long, what it cost us.

Recordings you upload. If you upload a finished recording to share, we store that audio file and a transcript of it, which we make in order to check it before anyone else can hear it. Jessie does not use the microphone. It does not listen to you.

How you listen. Which stories you opened, roughly how long you listened, what you rated them, which you marked as favorites, and where you came across them. This is what makes recommendations work. Your ratings and favorites are private: nobody else sees who rated or favorited what.

Your settings. Preferred narrator, story length, and whether Kid Mode is on.

Your public profile, if you turn one on. A handle, a display name (a pen name is fine), and an optional short bio. It stays off until you turn it on. While it is on, other listeners can see that name, handle, and bio, and the stories you credit to the profile. They cannot see your email. Stories you leave anonymous never appear on the profile. If you follow someone, we keep that so their new stories can show on your shelf. You can unfollow, and you can turn the profile off, which hides it.

Notifications. If you allow them, we store the push token Apple gives this phone, and whether the install is a test install or a public one, so we can tell you when a story is ready. The token is removed when you sign out of that phone or delete your account.

Subscriptions. Which plan you have, if any, and until when. Apple charges you. We never receive your card number, your bank details, or your Apple ID password.

Reports and blocks. If you report a story we keep the report and who made it. If you block someone we keep that too, so it keeps working.

Shared links. When you share a story, we keep the link and who made it. A link can also be used once to invite someone to Jessie. If someone gives their email on a shared story's page for that, we keep the address so they can sign in, and note which link brought them.

2. What we do not store

We do not store payment card details. Apple does, under its own terms, when you subscribe.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics. There is no advertising in Jessie and nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing.

We do not record you through the microphone.

3. Who else sees it

Making a story, checking one, or signing you in means sending parts of it to companies that provide the technology:

WhoWhat they receiveWhat for
AppleThe email from Sign in with Apple; your subscription status; this phone's push tokenSign-in, billing the subscription, and the notification that a story is ready
AnthropicYour brief and the story textWriting and revising the story
OpenAIYour messages, the brief, the story text; a story's title, summary and tags; the words of an uploaded recordingThe interview, the content and quality checks, and drawing the cover
ElevenLabsThe story text; short descriptions of sounds; the audio of an uploaded recordingNarration, background audio, and a transcript so a recording can be checked
SupabaseEverything above, storedDatabase, sign-in and file storage
RenderRequests as they pass throughRunning Jessie
ResendYour email addressSending your sign-in code

They act on our instructions. None of the model providers trains its models on what Jessie sends. Anthropic and OpenAI exclude API data from training by default on commercial terms, and Jessie's ElevenLabs account has training use switched off. Apple, Supabase, Render and Resend process data to provide the service named in the table, under their own terms.

Some of these companies process data outside the country where you live, including in the United States.

4. Sharing a story

When you start a story, you choose whether to add it to Jessie's shared library. That choice starts switched on, and you can switch it off then, or take the story out of the library at any time afterwards.

If a story is in the library, other listeners see its title, a short summary, its tags, its cover, its length, its average rating and how many people have listened — and can hear it. They do not see your email address. They see a name only if you credited the story to your public profile. They never see what you originally asked for.

If you share a link to a story, anyone who has the link can hear that story, without an account. Taking the story out of the library stops every link to it.

5. How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. Delete your account and your stories, recordings, listening history, profile, follows and settings go with it. A push token goes with the account. An Apple subscription does not: cancel that in your Apple account settings, or Apple keeps billing it.

Two small exceptions: reports may be kept after the reporter's account is gone, because a report is about somebody else's story; and ordinary backups take time to age out.

6. Children

Jessie accounts are for people aged 13 and over. You need a parent or guardian's permission if you are under 18. Jessie does not create accounts for children.

Kid Mode is a setting on a grown-up's own account, so a phone can be handed to a child safely. It limits what plays; it is not a separate kind of account. There is no child sign-in, and nothing is collected about the child. Everything recorded while Kid Mode is on belongs to the account holder.

If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Settings already does most of this immediately — including deleting your account. For anything else, write to us.

You can also complain to the data protection regulator where you live.

8. Security

You sign in with Apple, with a one-time code sent to your email, or with a password if your account has one. Jessie does not ask most people for a password. Stories, recordings and covers are held in private storage and reached through links that expire. Every request for a story is checked against who is asking.

We do not claim to be unbreachable. If something happens that affects you, we will tell you.
